The 48th WorldSkills Competition is officially announced to be held in Shanghai, China in September 2026

 On July 25th, it was reported that the WorldSkills Competition (WSC) is held every two years by members who apply to host it. It is currently the most prestigious, largest, and highest level international vocational skills competition in the world, known as the "World Skills Olympiad", representing the world's advanced level of vocational skills development.

The WorldSkills Organization has announced that the 48th WorldSkills Competition will be held in Shanghai, China from September 22 to 27, 2026.

It is worth mentioning that the 47th WorldSkills Competition will be held at the European Exhibition Center in Lyon, France from September 10th to 15th this year. China will send a delegation to participate in all 59 events, and 1400 athletes from more than 70 countries and regions around the world will gather in Lyon.

The purpose of WorldSkills is to promote the improvement of vocational skills among young people and trainers through communication and cooperation among its members; By organizing the World Skills Competition, we aim to promote the contribution of skills to economic and social development worldwide, and encourage young people to pursue careers in skills.

The World Skills Organization was established in 1950, formerly known as the International Vocational Skills Training Organization (IVTO). In October 2010, China joined the World Skills Organization and became its 53rd member. Nowadays, the organization has grown to 85 members, covering two-thirds of the world's population.

After more than 10 years of development, China has quickly entered the first camp of world skills competition. Data shows that Chinese athletes have won a total of 57 gold medals, 32 silver medals, 24 bronze medals, and 63 awards for excellence. Especially in the 2022 WorldSkills Competition Special Event, China sent 36 athletes to participate in 34 competition events, achieving excellent results of 21 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze, and 5 wins. The proportion of gold medals won reached 62%, and the proportion of medals won reached 97%, creating the best record in history.
